From the Field
One archive, in two media. The recorded record of the work the cuisine grows out of — photographs and films from expeditions with indigenous-community partners across Sarawak. Curated by Atlas Collective.
Why this archive exists
The cuisine grows out of the field. Without the expeditions — without the listening, the gathering, the partnership with the indigenous communities whose knowledge the platform carries — there is no Serumpun.
This page is the recorded archive of that work. One archive, in two media. The page grows as the field work grows.
The archive
Twelve frames from the field — gathering with elders, partnership with seed-keepers, foragers, and household cooks — paired with the short-form films that document the recipes, ingredients, and household practice the work has been entrusted with.

Field record — film I → Field record — film II →
Photographs and films by Atlas Collective. The archive is continuing; further entries are added as the field work proceeds. The Serumpun Sarawak Instagram channel — @serumpunsarawak — is the canonical home.
Listening before cooking. The discipline the cuisine grows out of.

The forest is the editor. The communities are the authors. The studio records what they agree to share.
